ALLES KARL 2011!
We are glad to announce that KINO UNTER STERNEN is again going to take place from 1st to 24th of July 2011 at Karlsplatz, Vienna!
The film program has the motto "Out of the suitcase". We will show
films about homeless, lost and dislodged people, travellers and border
crossers.

to the screening at 8.30pm we invite directors, actors, musicians and
comedians to entertaining performances in front of the screen. The film
starts daily at 9.30pm followed by the screening.

OUT OF THE SUITCASE
In the program the topics immigration and emigration are picked up.
Films made in Austria and international productions put a light on
human existence and social structures which are characterised by escape
and homelessness. Aside from migration (especially in Austrian films)
emigration and expulsion are thematised. In the 1930ies many (Jewish)
filmmakers became homeless.
SYNEMA - Gesellschaft für Film und Medien, has devoted their work to research about Austrian expatriates. This is why SYNEA is presenting Bon voyage, cinema! at Kino utner Sternen.
Max Steiner, father of film music, found his home and his destiny in Hollywood. In cooperation with the Austrian Film Museum Vienna a special is dedicated Max Steiner.

All about Karl! All new!
We're celebrated cinema at
a new location and with a new outfit! Lately several Austrian films
have been honored with awards. Reason enough for us to put them into
focus of CINEMA UNDER THE STARS. Of course it’s not possible to show a
representative width within such a short period of time, instead we
provide concentrated insights into film producing in Austria. We
approach Austrian Film light hearted. New and established Cinema,
commercial and queer film productions will be screened.
